Opened in July 2018, 007 ELEMENTS is a world-first cinematic installation 3,050 meters above sea level at the top of Gaislachkogl Mountain high above Sölden. This new James Bond museum/experience is a spectacular, sleek, thrilling underground adventure that is bringing a new lease of life to his cinematic persona.
It’s no coincidence that this amazing James Bond cinematic installation is located where they shot the mountain scenes in Daniel Craig’s last Bond outing, Spectre, in 2015. Housed in a striking new architectural structure, a lair deep inside the mountain that was designed and created by architect Johann Obermoser, a Tirol native, 007 ELEMENTS is set next to the top terminal of Gaislachkogelbahn Gondola. This interactive and immersive experience places visitors inside the world of 007 while revealing how that world is made.
Visitors enter 007 ELEMENTS via the “Barrel of the Gun”, a hallway that condenses and feels like going into the barrel of Bond’s gun. The contemporary design of the interior spaces comes from the mind of creative director Neal Callow, art director and set designer of the last four Bond movies. The result is a minimal and sleek Bondian lair in which visitors immediately become enveloped in the cinematic world of 007. It takes everyone on a journey through a series of nine galleries and an outside plaza with stunning views of the Alps and the mountain road leading up to Rettenbach Glacier. And as you walk through the nine chambers and 1,300 square meters of space, including the “Tech Lab” and “Action Hall”, characters and figures from Bond’s world guide you from 360-degree digital screens before you end up in the “Legacy Hall”, which brings together the greatest moments from Bond’s history.
Those who want to round out their visit to the 007 Elements installation in style can settle down on the outdoor patio of the eye-catching ice Q restaurant, which appeared as the Hoffler Klinik in Spectre. There, you can enjoy just a drink. A Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred. Just don’t forget your tux.
